Ed Case has released the results of his own survey explaining why he lost to Mazie Hirono in the U.S. Senate primary.

The top three reasons people voted for Hirono rather than Case were “party/political philosophy/agenda,” “Case ‘06 run against Sen. Akaka” and “personal background/values.”

Hirono voters also identified themselves as more liberal and Democrat, Case’s as more moderate and independent.

It’s unclear how many people responded to Case’s survey.

The lessons of ‘12 will take a while to settle out,” Case said in his email thanks to survey takers. “But I deeply appreciate your kokua in helping me through that as I leave ‘12 behind and move on to my next chapters.”
