Former Gov. Ben Cayetano was released from Queens Medical Center at 5 p.m. today after suffering from a bleeding ulcer that was discovered Sunday.

According to Cayetano’s campaign, the ulcer was cauterized Monday without any complications. He did not undergo surgery and did not need a blood transfusion.

How Cayetano rebounds for the Aug. 11 primary remains to be seen.

Campaign Manager Charlyn Honda-Masini said he will be resting “in the comfort of his own home” on Wednesday.

Cayetano has been hospitalized before due to a bleeding ulcer. That incident occurred in 1997 while he was governor.
