Breaking news from Cayetano’s campaign headquarters:

The former governor is in the hospital with a bleeding ulcer.

We’re four days out from the election and Cayetano remains the frontrunner in a three-way race for Honolulu mayor.

Cayetano’s wife, Vicky, delivered the news to reporters, saying that the mayoral candidate was admitted to Queens Medical Center late Sunday and is expected to remain hospitalized while further tests and corrective surgery are completed. He’s expected to be discharged by Wednesday.

A press release from his campaign notes that Cayetano suffered a similar episode while governor and was hospitalized for five days.
