Press release excerpts:

The Hawaii State Teachers Association (HSTA) announced today (Wednesday, Aug. 8) its endorsement of Carol Fukunaga for State Senate, District 11 (Manoa-University, Makiki/Punchbowl, Tantalus-Papakolea). HSTA represents more than 13,500 teachers in the State of Hawaii.

“Carol Fukunaga is a champion of quality public education for Hawaii’s keiki. Our members are impressed with her track record of supporting funding and initiatives that give students the experience and skills they need for the future,” said Wil Okabe, teacher and president of HSTA.

Fukunaga and fellow Democrat and state senator Brian Taniguchi were forced into the same district because of redistricting this year.
