We’re in federal court this morning to hear arguments in the Honolulu rail case. Nick Grube is posting live updates to his Inside Honolulu blog:

The courtroom is packed so much so that the jury box is full. A clerk just said more chairs are on the way for the people standing in the back of the room.

Former Gov. Ben Cayetano is here sitting at the plaintiffs table next to Honolulu attorney Michael Green.

Cayetano, of course, has a dog in this fight. He’s running for Honolulu mayor on an anti-rail platform.

While a favorable ruling in this case could help bolster his credibility with voters, it’s unclear whether U.S. District Court Judge A. Wallace Tashima will make a decision before the Nov. 6 election.
