Capitol Watch reports:

VoteVets.org isn’t taking its foot off the gas in the final days of the race. Instead, it’s spending another $70,000 to $80,000 to promote Tulsi Gabbard and attack Mufi Hannemann.

In filings with the Federal Election Commission Tuesday made available by the Sunlight Foundation, VoteVets revealed it spent $21,000 on a pro-Gabbard voter guide and another $21,000 on an anti-Hannemann “pay to play” mailer. The organization is also spending another $30,000 to $40,000 on more mailers and telephone calls to voters.

The Sierra Club also spent $8,500 on web advertising Monday. Those groups put together, plus support from the pro-choice Women Vote!, and Gabbard will have gotten more than $600,000 in outside money versus only $18,000 for Hannemann.

VoteVets provided the mailers to Civil Beat. Take a look:

The mailers were sent to voters on the neighbor islands, where Hannemann is most competitive, according to The Civil Beat Poll.

Speaking of those surprising poll results, Gabbard’s campaign put out a press release Monday discouraging complacency.

“Our polls show Tulsi is ahead, but not this far ahead,” Campaign manager Max Glass said in the release. “This remains a very close and tough race. Every vote counts.”
