The Abercrombie administration Wednesday (Sept. 12) released more than $147 million for design, construction and administration of various capital improvement projects statewide, “including work to decrease repair, maintenance and upgrade backlogs that over years have accumulated” at public schools, the University of Hawaii, health facilities and the state Capitol, according to a press release. 

The funds were previously identified by state lawmakers. They include:

• $75 million — various schools statewide — design, construction and works of art for school repairs and maintenance for schools statewide. 

• $12.5 million — UH Manoa Athletic Facilities — design and construction for projects including the Stan Sheriff Center Complex and Les Murakami Stadium. 

• $7.1 million — hospital information system/electronic medical record system, statewide. 

• $12 million — Kahului Airport, Maui — acquisition of remaining parcels of land adjacent to airport to ensure compatible land use for airport and aircraft operations.

• $8 million — state Capitol — construction to replace the roof/deck, install waterproofing and resealing, and upgrade other related improvements to the Capitol building.
