From Capitol Watch:

Both President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney took a break from negative political ads today in honor of the 9/11 anniversary, but the same show of unity didn’t occur in Hawaii.

Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Linda Lingle continued to run negative attack ads against her opponent, Rep. Mazie Hirono.

At least one Lingle commercial ran on KITV today, attacking Hirono for her record and “partisan politics.”

But Hirono pulled her ads today in honor of the victims and in line with presidential candidates’ bipartisan move, according to her campaign spokesperson Kinsey Kiriakos.

A call to Lingle’s campaign was not immediately returned.
