Tulsi Gabbard received a death threat this week. It’s not clear if her rising star in the Democratic Party has anything to do with it. From our partners at KITV:

Gabbard, who resigned from the City Council Aug. 16 to run for Congress, told KITV4 a threat was made against her life in the form of a text message. Gabbard would not say what was said in the message, but it’s believed to have originated in California.

The Honolulu Police Department confirmed Gabbard had filed a terroristic threatening report Thursday. HPD spokeswoman Michelle Yu said investigators are determining whether to classify the case as terroristic threatening in the first or second degree. The former is a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison; the later a misdmeanor.
