Hawaii Gets $1.1M in NOAA Grants

More money coming your way. Hawaii’s congressional delegation announced a few minutes ago that the state will receive more than $1.1 million from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to “protect, conserve, restore, and monitor marine habitats and fisheries.”

According to a joint press release, the NOAA grants are:

  • $282,000 to the Hawaii Community Foundation: Hawaii Regional Community-Based Restoration Program Partnership
  • $210,000 to Neil Sims Kampachi Farms: Alternative Dietary Protein Sources and Alternative High-Value Species for Expansion of Domestic U.S. Marine Fish Aquaculture
  • $210,000 to the University of Hawaii: (FY 12) Main Hawaiian Islands Deep 7 Bottomfish Fast Track Project
  • $200,000 to the University of Hawaii: (FY 12) Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (JIMAR) – Task 1
  • $127,085 to the University of Hawaii: National Weather Service Pacific Region Fellowship Program
  • $117,000 to the University of Hawaii: Pacific ENSO Applications Center (PEAC)
