He might have lost the election, but Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle hasn’t lost his penchant for travel.

Carlisle is heading over the Pacific to the 2012 China International Friendship Cities Conference in Chengdu, one of Honolulu’s sister cities.

He also plans to go to Zhangzhou and the Fengxian District, which is on the coast of South Shanghai.

After spending time in China, Carlisle is scheduled to head to Washington D.C. where he will meet with the Federal Transit Administration to talk about the city’s $5.26 billion rail project.

He’ll be joined on the jaunt by Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation Chairwoman Carrie Okinaga, HART CEO Executive Director Dan Grabauskas and City Council Chair Ernie Martin.
