On 88th Birthday, Akaka Thanks Staff

Sen. Daniel Akaka celebrated his birthday today at his office. Staffers and friends, including former staffer and Democratic nominee for Congress Tulsi Gabbard, assembled to watch him blow out the candles for the 88th time — and the last one as a sitting U.S. senator.

Akaka thanked everyone for their support over the years, and his wife, Millie, got a little choked up.
