Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education and UH are sponsoring a summit that will bring together representatives of both K-12 and higher education to better prepare students for college and careers.

Hawaii’s Common Core State Standards, adopted in 2009, will form the basis of the “Aligning Our Efforts: The Common Core State Standards, the Smarter Balanced Assessments, and the Role of Higher Education” event.

“Our partnerships with the University of Hawai‘i and institutions of higher learning are critical to the transformation of Hawai‘i’s public schools,” said Kathryn Matayoshi, Superintendent, Hawai‘i State Department of Education. “By collaboratively working together for student success, we will ensure that all high school graduates are ready for college and careers in today’s global environment.”

In addition to representatives from various higher ed. institutions across the state, speakers from an array of national education organizations will be in attendance.
