Media statement from Danna Holck, VP and GM for Turtle Bay Resort:
Today (Thursday, Sept. 13) at 6:00 p.m., Local 5 voted to authorize a strike and concluded with a rally at the entrance to Turtle Bay Resort. Their intent is to present the vote at the negotiations scheduled Monday, September 17.
We are very disappointed with the results of the vote and the decision to position for a strike. Our availability and willingness to negotiate terms since July 2010 have been delayed by union negotiators. It has always been our intent to finalize a fair and equitable contract as quickly as possible to provide our employees with the benefits they deserve.
The resort continues to operate without interruption.
The needs of our employees, our guests and our community continue to be our priority. We will move forward with our meeting with Local 5 scheduled for Monday, September 17, with the goal of settling the contract as soon as possible.
