Local 5 is conducting a rally at the entrance to Turtle Bay Resort Thursday afternoon (Sept. 13) with talk of a strike authorization vote.
Danna Holck, the resort’s VP and GM, has this to say in a press release:
We gratefully acknowledge the employees who have recognized that management has done everything in our power to enter in and conclude negotiations with Local 5 since 2010. We understand the value of a strong ohana at this resort and we are doing everything we can to provide one of the most attractive and competitive benefit packages in the industry. We continue to attempt to come to the table and take care of our employees and have a scheduled meeting on Monday, September 17.
The union’s latest action does not affect Turtle Bay Resort’s strong commitment to continue negotiate in good faith a fair and equitable contract that would serve the needs of our employees, the guests, and the community.
We are disappointed with the decision to rally against negotiations that have been fair, respectable, and all with good intent.
