Daniel Akaka spoke to the Native Hawaiian Convention for the final time as a sitting U.S. senator Thursday.
He talked about his role in a long line of Native Hawaiian leaders fighting for self-determination, and asked those in attendance to grab a paddle and pull for the shore.
