Calling all hunters! Hawaii state officials want your help eradicating axis deer on the Big Island. The deer were illegally brought over from one of the other islands and pose a serious threat to farms, ranches and forests. The AP reports:

The announcement comes after the Board of Land and Natural Resources voted Friday to allow licensed hunters to kill deer on public land on the Big Island without getting a special permit. 

The state says there will be no restrictions on the days or seasons that deer may be hunted and no limits on the numbers that may be taken.
