KHON broke the news Sunday night that Department of Planning and Permitting Director David Tanoue has resigned to “take a job in the private sector.”
In 2010, Mayor Peter Carlisle reappointed Tanoue, who’d originally taken over DPP under Mufi Hannemann two years earlier. Here are a couple of Civil Beat articles to read as you reflect on the David Tanoue era:

- Will Green Light for Tanoue Be Green Light for Developers?
Here’s a photo of Tanoue testifying before a Honolulu City Council committee, alongside Carlisle, in November 2010.
