In a piece today for the Huffington Post, Lipscomb University President Dr. L. Randolph Lowry shared some ways to save higher education.

He explained the dynamic changes happening in schools nationwide and juxtaposed it with the fact that 60 percent of working-age adults in the U.S. do not have college degrees.

Here’s a condensed version of the six suggestions he made to make university degrees more attainable for more people:

1. Consider offering a three-year bachelor’s degree.

2. Develop seamless transfer policies with community colleges.

3. Establish special financial aid programs for disadvantaged and first-generation students to increase access to higher education.

4. Study the workplace need.

5. Institute programs for veterans.

6. Look at innovative delivery and go beyond campus boundaries.
