The dreams of Kaimuki cyclists are finally going to be realized! The city has given the green light to a plan that calls for adding bike lanes in both directions between St. Louis Drive and 10th Avenue.

In practical terms, that means two instead of three morning town-bound lanes and no afternoon contraflow lane. Some area residents were none too pleased with the news, saying that since cars outnumber bikes, cars should rule. But that kind of attitude only gets us so far, don’t you think? 

Restriping of the road could begin as early as next spring.
