6 p.m. — Japanese Cultural Center Filling With Dems

The Manoa ballroom on the fifth floor of the Japanese Cultural Center is beginning to fill with the Hawaii Democratic Party faithful.

“Hawaii is?” Donalyn Dela Cruz asked the audience.

“Obama country!” they responded.

“What?” said Dela Cruz, the former spokeswoman for Gov. Neil Abercrombie.

“OBAMA COUNTRY!” they yelled back with much more energy.

During the blessing of the food, with the room hushed in reverence, Michael Golojuch blurted out, “He just took Florida!”

A few minutes later, the crowd picked up on the news and cheers erupted.
