On Kauai, lots of people are showing up for a community meeting at Hanalei school’s cafeteria to hear about a proposed resort development northwest of Hanalei Bay near the Hanalei River.

The 63-acre development including a hotel and resort is being proposed by Ohana Real Estate Investors, whose principal investor is Civil Beat Publisher Pierre Omidyar, who’s also the founder of eBay.

CB reporter Nathan Eagle is at the meeting and says more than 100 people have come for a power point presentation on the project.

Although the development is controversial the crowd is quite civil, he says.
