More births in 2007 and a better economy today helped Hawaii public school enrollment numbers to increase 1 percent over last year, education officials announced Wednesday.
The Department of Education’s 254 public schools enroll 173,658 students (1,554 more than last year). Charter schools have 9,593 students, 484 more than last year.
