Marion Higa, who pulls no punches in her sometimes scathing audits of state agencies, says she’ll retire at the end of December, Hawaii News Now reports.
Deputy Auditor Jan Yamane is set to take over for the 70-year-old Higa, who is leaving midway through a third term. That adds up to 21 years of keeping a very close eye on the taxpayers’ interests.
The Legislature gets to pick a new auditor. Hmmmm …..
