The CBS crime drama Hawaii Five-0 may not be having its most successful season ever in terms of viewership, but it’s become enough of a local favorite for Hawaiian Electric Co. to open up its wallet.
Pacific Business News reports that HECO has taken over the commercial breaks during the 10 p.m. Hawaii News Now newscast on KGMB, which airs right after the show:
Robbie Alm, executive vice president for HECO, told PBN that the main reason for running the commercials on that station and at that time was the “Hawaii Five-0” lead-in.
…For Hawaii businesses, it’s been sort of a “gold mine.” For instance, on Monday night’s broadcast, Steve McGarrett’s sidekick Danno, played by Scott Caan, gave a plug to Honolulu’s Hank’s Haute Dogs. Last month, Liliha Bakery’s famous coco puffs were also prominently featuredon the show.
