As promised, Japan is giving the federal government some financial help for cleaning up debris from the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami that is already starting to hit West Coast and Hawaii beaches.

The Foreign Ministry announced the donation to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Friday, according to an Associated Press story published in the Washington Post.
