Smart move by Lanai’s billionaire owner to hire a local hotel veteran to serve as chief operating officer of the island’s two Four Seasons resorts and other business operations. And he’s a Lanaian, to boot!
Pacific Business News reports:
Kurt Matsumoto, a Lanai native, had previously served as vice president of resorts and administration for Lanai Co. Inc., owned by Castle & Cooke Inc., from 1991 to 2000. He was in charge of The Lodge at Koele and the Manele Bay Hotel, as well as the island’s two signature golf courses. The two properties were later rebranded under the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts flag.
The move is effective Dec. 1. Hawaii News Now points out that Matsumoto, 55, is the younger brother of Island Insurance CEO Colbert Matsumoto.
