The agenda is as follows:
The purpose of this informational briefing is to address youth gang-violence in the areas near Dole Middle School. The Committee will consider “anti-gang” programs and “best practices” to reduce youth gang-violence and discuss “parental rights” seeking to provide a summary of the most effective solutions to better address youth violence. The briefing will also focus on recent incidents of youth violence and crime, which includes, but is not limited to, violent acts toward Kalihi area students and community residents, graffiti, mail tampering, theft, and property damage.
Discussion will be centered on the recent criminal acts by youth; analysis by “At Risk” youth experts, thoughts and suggestions by David Hipp, Executive Director for DHS, Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility, and a plan of action, pursuant to suggestions and thoughts by the Honolulu Police Department, the above individuals or organizations and any of the presenters at the briefing.
