Even though the race for the Honolulu Mayor’s Office is supposed to be nonpartisan, it hasn’t stopped the Pacific Resource Partnership from distinguishing voters’ choices along party lines.

Not only has PRP tried to link former two-term Democratic Gov. Ben Cayetano to Mitt Romney, the birther movement and other Republican ideas, but the group is now pushing pamphlets with U.S. Sen. Dan Inouye saying he supports Kirk Caldwell for mayor because he’s one of the “strong Democrats that Hawaii’s families and businesses need to succeed.”

On the pamphlet, Inouye also supports President Barack Obama and U.S. Senate candidate Mazie Hirono, who is running against another former Hawaii governor in Linda Lingle.
