Richard A. Coons, 73, spouse of GOP state House Rep. Barbara Marumoto and former managing partner of the Hawaii office of Deloitte & Touche LLP, passed away at Queens Medical Center on Nov. 22.
He suffered a heart attack in Vancouver, Canada, en route to an annual fishing trip and succumbed to his condition several months later.
House Speaker Calvin Say said in a statement Wednesday (Nov. 28) that he was “deeply saddened” by the death Coons.
“Richard was an accomplished businessman and valuable contributor to the community after his retirement,” said Say. “On behalf of the Hawaii House of Representatives, I want to extend our condolences and prayers to Rep. Marumoto and her family during this difficult time.”
