In between speeches from the U.S. Senate floor, CSPAN2 is showing live video of Sen. Daniel Inouye being honored in the Capitol Rotunda.

The video feed shows guests forming a circle as they observe Inouye’s flag-draped casket at the center the rotunda. The room is absolutely quiet, you can even hear people’s footsteps as they shuffle in and out.

At 1:15 p.m., Sen. Dan Akaka took the Senate floor to ask his colleagues once more to support the Akaka Bill.

His comments were followed by Republican Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who pledged support for federal recognition for Native Hawaiians: “The time to provide parity and justice for Hawaii’s native people is now… This cause will not die.”
