The Hawaii Reporter, an online news website founded by reporter Malia Zimmerman, has sent out a plea for donations, saying that the 10-year-old news service may not live to see its 11th birthday without readers’ help.
The website is staffed by Zimmerman and Jim Dooley, a former Honolulu Advertiser investigative reporter.
Excerpts from an email sent to readers:
Hawaii Reporter turns 11 years old on February 11, but we won’t make it to our next anniversary without your help.
We are looking to raise $150,000 for the next year, $20,000 immediately so we can continue our news operations.
