Sounds too good to be true — and maybe it is — but a California lawmaker is proposing a “middle-class scholarship” program that lets students earn a bachelor’s degree for $10,000.

Sparked by similar measures in Texas and Florida, Republican Assemblyman Dan Logue is working to find a solution to soaring education costs.

The University of Hawaii’s tuition remains relatively affordable when compared nationally, but like so many other schools, its costs are only expected to rise.
