For the second day Ocean Safety has advised the City’s Parks and Recreation Department to close Hanauma Bay due to hazardous ocean conditions. Ocean Safety lifeguards inspected the bay this morning and again found there to be strong and potentially dangerous rip currents. The surf is creating poor water visibility. Although the surf has dropped to about six foot faces, it is still creating a public safety concern. Ocean Safety is advising beach goers who go to other beaches to check with the lifeguards before going into the water. Also please remain a good distance away from any ledges. There is always a chance of a freak set washing up. Ocean Safety will reassess the situation in the morning.
