The Senate Education Committee today gave its ‘ay’ in support of the bill that would establish a pilot program allowing the state to lease out public school lands.

The lands could be used strictly for public purposes, such as workforce housing. The revenue would go into a special fund for school facilities.

All the committee members present approved the measure. Sen. Sam Slom, however, did so with reservations.
