The American Society of News Editors is seeking high school teachers for an expenses-paid, two-week summer journalism institute.

The Reynolds High School Journalism Institute teaches reporting, editing, multimedia, layout and design, journalism ethics, First Amendment rights and student press law.

The goal is that teachers will take those skill sets back to their classrooms to strengthen journalism programs and school publications. Teachers from schools that lack online student media or have struggling journalism programs are encouraged to apply.

The ASNE will select 175 to attend the institute, which will take place at five journalism schools across the country:

  • Arizona State University, Phoenix, June 16-28
  • University of Texas at Austin, June 16-28
  • Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, July 7-19
  • University of Nevada, Reno, July 14-26
  • University of Missouri, Columbia, July 14-26

The online application is available here
