Our media partner KITV has this report. Excerpts:

Hawaiian Electric crews are trying to find the source of a power outage in Hawaii Kai Sunday morning.

The outage happened around 8:30 a.m. from Kalani High School to Kalama Valley by the golf course.

HECO said about 4,300 customers are without power at this time.  It is unknown if high winds may have caused the power outage.

Crews are doing an underground inspection, which takes longer than normal to find the problems.  Restoration could take several hours.

HECO ask their customers not to call their trouble line because it is tying up other areas that may be affected.
