A young monk seal with respiratory problems that was flown from the Big Island to Oahu for medical care had died, according to the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources

The Coast Guard flew the seal, known as K68, to the Waikiki Aquarium last Friday.

Additional information about the seal’s death is expected to be released on Tuesday.
