“ALERT: Senator Malama Solomon just announced on the Senate Floor in Session that she will not be holding a hearing on SB1 or any other Senate bill to repeal the PLDC. This is after she met with her committee and made the commitment to hold a hearing. She made the floor announcement without prior notice to the committee, and said she will wait to see if a bill comes over from the House. More later.”
SB1 was the very first bill introduced in the Senate this session and comes from Sen. Clayton Hee. The measure was to have been heard Thursday (Jan. 31) in the Water and Land committee but was later deleted from the agenda.
Solomon — who supports the PLDC — chairs Water and Land. Thielen — who does not support PLDC — sits on the committee.
There are a number of PLDC-related bills at the Legislature. Rep. Cindy Evans plans to hear PLDC legislation Feb. 9 in her House Water and Land committee.
