In a bit of good news for civilians working in the military, the AP is reporting the Pentagon will sharply reduce the number furlough days they will have to take under the sequestration budget cuts.
Instead of 22 unpaid furlough days, civilians will only take 14, the AP reports. About 19,000 Defense workers in Hawaii had been subject to furloughs.
Key was the Continuing Resolution passed by Congress, which while leaving budget cuts in place, allowed the military to shift $10 billion into its operations account from other funds.
