High school teachers and students from nine Oahu schools will be hosting Honolulu’s first TEDxHonolulu ED April 13.

TEDx events share “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx ED events focus on the future of education. 

The Honolulu ED extravaganza will feature multimedia presentations lasting up to 18 minutes on topics ranging from learning with ADHD to  how fourth graders are designing and building 3-D models of a backyard pool as a math project. If you were to design your ideal school, what would it look like? What would be the curriculum? How would teachers and students relate to one another? 

Sparked by these and other thought-provoking questions, high-school students at Punahou and Le Jardin Academy are presenting the first education-focused TEDxHonolulu ED to be held in Hawaii. The independently organized, student-run forum – “ReinspirED, ReimaginED, RedesignED and ReconnectED” – offers a showcase for innovative educational ideas that can inspire change. The event kicks off Saturday, April 13, 2013, from 4 – 8 p.m. at Wo International Center’s Luke Lecture Hall on the Punahou School campus. Admission is $35 and seating is available for the first 100 people to sign up before March 31 at tedxhonolulued.eventbrite.com. The public is also invited to view the live webcast at tedxhonolulu.org.

Other participating schools include Assets, Iolani, Kaiser, Kamehameha, Moanalua and St. John Vianney Parish.
