Hawaiian Electric Co. has updated its online maps that detail how much solar is going up on their circuits throughout the islands. The maps are designed to make it easier for solar customers and developers to view areas where it might be hard to add more solar.
Once a circuit hits 15 percent or more, HECO may require the customer to pay for costly interconnection studies to determine if the solar system might disrupt the electric grid.
The maps show heavy blocks of residential areas throughout the islands have already reached 15 percent.
The maps, which HECO is now updating daily, can be found here and are searchable by address.
