Torrential rain has stranded at least a dozen people in Hanalei, a famous surf town on Kauai’s north shore. Rain bloated the Hanalei River causing it to overflow its banks. Highway 560 was closed by police Tuesday evening due to heavy rains and flash flood warnings.
It’s the only road in and out of Hanalei. Cars are lined up waiting to leave, including our temporary Kauai correspondent.
