Let the construction begin.

The recently passed state budget would secure plans to build a $130 million high school in Kihei, Maui. The budget committees on Tuesday passed the $23.8 million biennium budget.

The Maui News reports that the lawmakers set aside the long-awaited school’s full funding for the 2015 fiscal year, meaning construction could happen all at once — not in phases.

And that’ll save the state as much as $25 million, according to the news report. 

The budget bill — House Bill 200 — still needs to get approval from the full House and Senate.
