Measures allowing public funds for private early childhood education, vending in highway airspace, amending the awarding of school bus contracts, transferring the medical pot program to the Health Department and requiring financial disclosure of members of some boards and commissions have cleared the Hawaii House of Representatives.

On the school bus contracts bill, Rep. Mark Takai urged his colleagues to support the measure because, he said, “If we don’t solve this problem, the problem of shortages of student transportation and the elimination or routes will continue.”

The proposal to ask voters to weigh in on a constitutional amendment to allow public money to go to private early ed — one of Gov. Neil Abercrombie‘s bills — drew lots of opposition but still squeaked by.
