As Rep. Colleen Hanabusa heads back to Hawaii where she is expected to announce that she’s running for U.S. Senate, she joined House members in passing a measure to end the furloughs of air traffic controllers.

The move comes after the furloughs caused by sequestration, caused delays in the nation’s airports. Schatz and other senators had approved the measure by unanimous consent on Thursday.

The Reducing Flight Delays Act would give the FAA the flexibility to transfer up to $253 million within its budget in order to fund the activities of FAA air traffic controllers and other employees.

Hanabusa who has railed against sequestration, the furloughs had been “another disturbing example of how sequestration impacts our constituents, our economy, our federal agencies and workforce,” said Hanabusa. “While it is imperative that we get our air traffic controllers back to work, this is only a quick fix to a small piece of a much bigger problem. We need to address sequestration now.”

Rep. Tulsi Gabbbard also voted for the measure, which passed by a 361-41 margin
