Rep. Colleen Hanabusa said so, in a release late Friday night:
“I share our nation’s relief that the second suspect in the Boston marathon bombing has been taken into custody alive. I hope that we will get more clarity in the days and weeks to come as law enforcement officials have a chance to question him.
“I commend all of the law enforcement agencies who coordinated their efforts and brought this episode to its final, successful conclusion. Throughout the series of shocking events since Monday, our faith in law enforcement was well-placed and kept us strong. You stand as a symbol of our nation’s tenacity and excellence. Our pride and gratitude are beyond expression.
“To the people of Boston, Watertown, and the surrounding areas, you continue to embody American strength and resolve. We were proud to stand with you and keep you in our thoughts. Today we share your relief and celebrate your strength.”
Not to be outdone, Sen. Brian Schatz, who may face a challenge from Hanabusa, weighed in four hours later at 1:21 a.m. in Washington D.C, releasing this statement:
“I join the nation in relief and gratitude that the men suspected to be responsible for this act of terror have been apprehended. Our armed forces and federal agents showed incredible courage in the face of danger. Now it is my hope that the details of this tragedy are brought to light and justice is served swiftly. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families after this tremendously difficult week.”
