After being part of a group of 20 women senators who dined with President Obama at the White House last night, Sen. Mazie Hirono said she brought up immigration reform and the military’s rebalance to the Pacific.

In a press release, Hirono said she also thanked the Obama for emphasizing early childhood education in his budget proposal.

Roll Call reported that they apparently had Alaskan Halibut.

“And, in keeping with the ground rules for their regular suppers, none spoke to reporters when the two-hour gathering broke up just before 9 p.m.,” the report said.

Hirono’s release didn’t say much about the experience of dining at the White House, which was a first for her. But based on a photo released by her office, it looked like the senators were packed together at the table.

In a statement, she said, only:

“Mahalo to President Obama for hosting this dinner. Tonight was a good opportunity for my Senate colleagues and me to meet face-to-face with the President and share our ideas. We are all trying to make a difference for American families and I am hopeful that the conversations started tonight will lead to real results for the people of this country.”
