Is Honolulu City Councilmember Stanley Chang going to announce a bid for U.S. Congress?

Sure seems like it.

Chang’s campaign just sent out an email saying the councilmember will make an announcement tomorrow at noon about his “possible candidacy for Hawaii’s first congressional district.”

While it’s possible he could say he’s not planning on taking a shot at the U.S. House of Representatives, it’s unlikely.

The CD1 seat, of course, currently belongs to Colleen Hanabusa. But undisclosed sources have said she will be running for U.S. Senate against Brian Schatz.

Hanabusa has yet to make a formal announcement.
