UH Astronomy Inst. to Host Africa Telescope Viewing Party, etc.

It’s all part of the University of Hawaii at Manoa‘s Institute for Astronomy open house, which will be held this Sunday, April 14. The events runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Remote observing” from a telescope in Africa is among the activities that’ll be offered at the open house. Also on the menu are short talks on a range of astronomical topics, robot building sessions, a demonstration of the system that is being built at the Institute to warn us about incoming space rocks and a hologram of the 30-meter telescope that might be built on Mauna Kea.
